Oxyde consists of a group of 7 passionate young singers. Having met at the famous Drakensberg Boy’s Choir School, most are now members of the prestigious SAYC (South African Youth Choir). The group performs as an a capella vocal group.
Since Oxyde’s formation, the group has performed at variety of events and venues, including the Suidoosterfees at Artscape Theatre, the V & A Waterfront Amphitheatre, the Hugo Lamprechts Auditorium, Rheebokskloof Wine Estate, Tygevalley Arena, the Endler Hall in Stellenbosch and Mooikelrder Manor House in Paarl. They also recently performed for RSG in their tent at the Suidoosterfees, as well as in a live broadcast at the Paarl Agricultural Festival. Oxyde has been broadcast by both RSG and FMR.
Oxyde’s repertoire can be varied to suit the particular performance context and their repertoire embraces an eclectic mix of styles: from Pop to Classical, as well as African traditional items. Their vocal performance can be further varied with the optional addition of Gum Boot dancing and Djeme drumming.
