SANGOMA is no stranger to the music industry, as the front man of the incredibly successful group DENIM, he has had the opportunity to perform to the crème de la crème both locally and internationally, had a string of hits, performed at some of the most prestigious events in SA and produced various tracks for television. Yet with his strong foundation and fan base, people were still sceptical when he left DENIM in 2008 but in just six months SANGOMA was, once again, performing at some of the most prestigious events in town, had people talking and was looking at a very busy year ahead.
One of these events was a year end function for the Mvelapana Group where SANGOMA had the pleasure of meeting Mr Tokyo Sexwale. The meeting proved to have quite an impact on SANGOMA and, as he had been looking for a new name for the band, lead to the final step in the creation of…
The band has caused a sensation in SA and their reputation speaks for itself with repeated bookings by SA’s Top Corporate Clients including Subaru, BMW, Nedbank, Exon, Tokyo Sexwale, Sun City, Pfizer, Alexander Forbes, ABSA Capital, Toyota, Coca-Cola and many more. They have also had the honour of performing at some of South Africa’s most prestigious events and after-parties, including The Nebank Golf Challenge, The Sunshine Tour, Welcoming Miss World, Bidvest, Miss South Africa and ended this incredible year with a final performance at the Superbowl (Sun City) on New Years Eve!
So how does a band get to this level of success in such a short time? As with everything in the music industry, it’s a combination of talent and hard work. Their repertoire is extensive, the talent undeniable and the performance is mesmerising. SANGOMA’s incredible stage presence is dynamic and his vocal ability has reached new heights, amazing audiences by switching from motown to reggae to rock the way one would change a CD. Combine this with a dynamic 7 Piece Band (2 Female Backing Singers; Keyboards; Guitar, Bass, Drums) and the results are …. Tokyo Groove!

Typical Corporate performance: up to 2 X 45 min sets: full 7-piece Corporate band, or intimate 4-piece band
