MAJORE DUO

Based in Cape Town

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

The Majore Duo was formed in 2001 when Sheryl Deane and Lucia Scott met in Cape Town.  They have since played for many embassies and corporate  functions, including playing for Prince Edward and Prince Philip in 2002 and 2003. Sheryl has also played solo guitar for Nelson Mandela. The duo combine two string instruments, one plucked and one bowed. The acoustic guitar is a versatile instrument because it can express so many styles from all over the world. The violin has a refined sound that can only be matched by the human voice and Lucia’s violin playing has that voice like quality.

Sheryl Deane graduated from the University of Natal in Durban with Dave Hewitt  as her  guitar teacher & Darius Brubeck as a jazz  composition teacher.    She went on to study guitar with John Mills in London and played with the Lauderdale ensemble in Highgate, London  for 5 years.  Since returning to Cape Town, she has played as a soloist at the Table Bay Hotel as well as playing concerts at Baxter, Lyndenburgh Arts, Artscape in Cape Town.

Italian born Lucia Di Blasio Scott started her performing career at the age of eight in Sanremo. She has been soloist with the F.Sfilio Chamber Orchestra both in  Italy and France, and she was one of the youngest to gain a Diploma in Italy, at age eighteen. She moved to South Africa in 1983 as Vice-Principal in the newly formed NPO> In Cape Town since 1993, she was Principal in the CTSO and the CTPO> She is no longer involved with any of the Cape Town orchestras, and is mainly dedicated to Chamber Music. She is a principal guest with the Baroque series organized by Prof. Shirley Gie as well as a member of the Palm Strings and the Michaelis Players. Lucia teaches violin at the university of Cape Town. Lucia recently performed with  El Divo at Kirstenbosch Concert in 2008 and is in great demand for recordings used world wide.
