Founded in 1984 by members of the former NSO of SABC, Promenade are a group of professional musicians bound by the same concept that music is an integral part of life as old as mankind. Because it is a form of positive and constructive communication, it enhances the quality of life.
Over the years, they have accumulated a vast repertoire of light classics and contemporary pop, the latest commissioned to Peter McLea, one of South Africa’s most talented arrangers/composers.
The group has performed at public concerts for Classic FM, Walter Sisulu & Pretoria Botanical Gardens, Alice Art Gallery and at numerous private and corporate functions.
At present members of the Promenade Ensemble are with the high ranks of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of S.A. and the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, also performing as solo artists in recitals and chamber music concerts.
