London-born Dominic Holmes is one of the most sought-after one man bands in Durban

After several school bands, sometimes on guitar, other times on bass, Dominic joined a 60's/70's dance band as the lead singer and bassist. They were the most successful non-Chinese dance band in Hong Kong, where he lived for 12 years. The band played exclusively in 5-star hotels and also were chosen to back visitors like The Platters. Dominic played in the pit band for various musical productions including Grease, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Dracula Spectacular, and other smaller productions. These all involved a full big band and required sight reading.

Dominic still visits Hong Kong every year to perform as a one man band at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club annual ball.

Closer to home, Dominic has played in the Drakensberg Sun Hotel, the Umhlanga Sands Hotel, Ushaka Marine World, The Riverside Hotel, The Royal, the Johannesburg Country Club, The Durban Country Club, Zimbali Golf Estate, Alpine Heath Resort, Champagne Sports & Racquet, Tala Game Reserve, The Durban July, Holiday Inn Elangeni, The Wild Coast Sun (together with Anne Power of Johannesburg), The Suncoast Casino (Function room), Sun City. Other parts of Africa include The Royal Livingstone, Elephant Hills Zimbabwe, The Mowana Lodge Botswana, The Royal Swazi Spa.

Dominic plays acoustic and electric guitar to backing tracks, whilst singing. He sings a wide variety of popular and old classic tunes, by artists such as:
