Duncan Ebedes (Prounounced - Eh - Bed - Ees) is a man on a mission. With an easy-going character that’s tempered by a quick-thinking mind, he fills his space with personality – something that’s immediately apparent in his music. Nametags for musical genres can be misleading and comparisons can be restrictive, so there’s something to be said about viewing this South African singer songwriter through a glass coloured with the wry cheek of the Violent Femmes and the folk-pop styling’s of Beck.

With a musical bent that goes back as far as the age of nine, the 27-year old has a self-taught skill that has been tempered by time and his passion for music. They say persistence pays, and it must be especially true of the kid who refused to let go of the melodies in his head. This determination has stood Duncan in good stead – four of the songs off his demo album of 2003 have enjoyed consistent playlisting on four different stations nationwide. As he prepares to take the next step with his new album (Perseverance of the Saints) due for release mid 2009, the depth & experience of his street taught indie skills, coupled with the ace hand of legendary Durban-based producers Dave Birch & Brent Quinton, at the album’s helm, bodes well for a dark & edgy debut record that reflects this artist's musical gift.

Ebedes has just returned from London, where he's been busy, showcasing & promoting his music to a wider audience.
