What the press had to say...

Francois Lliam has been involved in professional stage, film & TV productions for the past 15 years.  At an early age he started singing & acting and recently studied at the UCT School of Dance.  In 2003 he was cast alongside such great South African musical performers as Tobie Cronje, Val Donald-Bell & Basil Appollis in Janice Honeyman’s critically acclaimed 2003 pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ at the Civic Theatre, Johannesburg.  In 2004 Francois wowed Cape Town audiences in On Broadway’s production of Soul’d Out and in 2006 he enjoyed a highly successful run as the lead, Galileo, in the South African production of We Will Rock You.

After returning from the Jesus Christ Superstar tour of Athens in May 2007 he started shooting Voorgee, a golf magazine show on Kyknet. Recently he teamed up with fellow producers to start Triple Threat Entertainment, a production company that focuses on bringing world class entertainment to Cape Town.

In On Broadway's production of Come Fly With Me Francois paid tribute to this legend of Frank Sinatra in a vibrant and creative way. The show not only included all his famous tunes like Fly me to the moon, Come fly with me and I’ve got you under my skin, but also less known songs like I’ve got the world on a string and You Make Me Feel So Young. In Come Fly With Me Francois was accompanied by a hot and happening jazz band in a trip down memory lane. Frank Sinatra, and his music, formed an integral part of Francois's early artistic development.

WHAT THE PRESS HAD TO SAY...

TALENTED FRANCOIS LLIAM DOES IT HIS WAY...
"Sinatra had the image of the guy next-door, and the fresh-faced Francois Lliam easily emulates this. His killer smile certainly doesn't hurt either. Three generations of Frank Sinatra fans are represented by 33-year-old frontman Francois Lliam, 53-year-old bass player, Trish Bailey and 73-year-old pianist, Derek Hutton. They cover many of Ol' Blue Eyes's hits like Fly Me To The Moon, New York, New York, Under My Skin, Moonriver, The Lady is a Tramp and Come Fly With Me. Lliam's training in both drama and opera is evident, as song after song you see and hear him feeling what he is singing. He is a great performer who has a rapport with the backing artists. The audience, though a small one on Good Friday, was charmed. At times everyone sang along while clicking their fingers and tapping their feet."
- Vicky Stark, The Tonight, 27 March 2008 -

ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD...
"Come Fly With Me is a tribute to the man who invented crooning: Ol Blue Eyes himself. Anyone who attempts to do a proper Sinatra rendition thus has to be a) a good singer, b) attractive and c) backed by a good band, which was the case with this stunning cast of Francois Lliam (30-ish, vocals), Derek Hutton (70-ish, piano; watch out for his famous "footnotes") and Trish Bailey (50-ish, bass guitar).

Derek was the quintessential jazz pianist; trilby, grey beard and all, while Trish suited the oh-so-cool bassist to a T. And Francois perfectly portrayed the boy next door, simple romantic looking for the girl of his dreams... I almost wanted to take him home!
- Ilde Fenthum, The People's Post, 25 March 2008

SHOW THAT ROCKS, AS PROMISED
"...The four youngsters, Francois Lliam (Galileo), Helen Burger (Scaramouche), Murray Todd (Britney) and Talia Kodesh (Oz) all have glorious voices, oodles of sass and energy that sizzles as they light up the stage."
- Diane de Beer, Tonight, 11 May 2007 -

QUEEN MUSICAL WILL ROCK YOU|
"From the moment Francois Lliam and Helen Burger burst into song, belting out 'I Want To Be Free', you know that this duo is dynamite. The explosive romantic liaison between their characters Galileo and Scaramouche thread through the narrative, representing young heroes who want to make a difference in world gone crazy. Lliam and Burger's passionate performances are impassioned by a sensational Vicky Sampson as the Killer Queen, with Neels Clasen delivering a delightful performance as the comical Khashoggi and Malcolm Terrey enforcing his versatility with an engaging interpretation of Pop."
- Daniel Dercksen, News24, 27 July 2007
