JUDY BROWN

Based in Cape Town

Judy Brown graduated in 2006 with a degree in Jazz arrangement and composition from the University of Cape Town. Judy lived in London for 2 years, during which time she took the opportunity to travel to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium, Holland and Italy. She has also toured New Zealand with 'That 60's Show' and visited Canada, Australia & the USA. In 2005 she played at the Daimler Chrysler car of the year ceremony in Egypt. In London she worked part-time at M.R.I.B music research company, and played in the band 'No ID' (Funky jazz/techno band) over weekends at 'Jazz after Dark' in Soho.

Judy has been involved in several high profile and successful productions and events since 1995, notably:

  • Mike McCullagh's Rock revival show '60 Something' at Dock Road Café , CT Waterfront (also '60 Something Else', '70 Street' & '60 Something 2')
  • 'Girl Talk 2000', a very successful theatre production in Johannesburgfor Richard Loring enterprises (306 performances in 1 year). Judy played sax and keyboards
  • 'Roll over Beethoven', classic Rock at Sangita Barnyard theatre, Alberton.
  • Duck Chowles' production of 'Glory Days', 80's revival.
  • She toured South Africa with 'Chameleon of Rock', 'Roll over Beethoven' and 'Glory Days', visiting towns like Whiteriver, Haenertsburg, Upington, Plettenbergbay, Mossel Bay, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, and many more.
  • 'That 60's Show' for a 7 week tour of Auckland and surrounds (New Zealand).
  • 'Rock me Amadeas' at the Alberton Barnyard theatre, Johannesburg, playing keyboards, clarinet and sax.
  • 'G-String', woman of rock, at Grand West Casino, CapeTown, as well as the Gateway Barnyard Theatre in Druban.
  • 'Natural woman', at Menlyn, Cresta and Broadacres Barnyards Theatres
  • Musical director, saxophonist and keyboard player for 'Roll over Beethoven' at The Rio casino in Klerksdorp.
  • '60's Revolution' and 'Piano Boys', Menlyn Barnyard Theatre.
  • Show band 'The 3 Busketeers' performed in Egypt for Daimler Chrysler car of the year ceremony.
  • 'Those were the days', Gateway Barnyard, Umhlanga.
  • 'Boogie Wonderland', Cresta Barnyard, Jhb and Willowbridge Barnyard Theatre in Cape Town
  • 'Walking in Memphis ', Willowbridge Theatre, Cape Town.
  • 'Juke-box Hero' and 'Diamonds and Dust', Cresta, Johannesburg.
  • 'Forever Young' in Harare, Zimbabwe.
  • 'Diamonds and Dust' corporate show in Bahrain.
  • Solo sax performances around the country for Corporate functions, at (a.o) The Mount Nelson, CT, Sandton Convention centre or JSE, Johannesburg.
